Three ways to start a better conversation
A good opener gives someone an easy choice about what to share.
1. Ask about a recent favorite
“Which song have you had on repeat?” works better than asking for a life story. Have your own answer ready so it feels like a conversation.
2. Follow one detail
If someone mentions a game, ask about their favorite level before jumping to a new subject. A short follow-up shows that you are listening.
3. Respect the exit
People can leave without explaining why. A simple “Nice talking with you” is enough. Keep identifying details and private contact information out of an introductory chat.
