This page explains how this version of ChatMee handles a conversation.
Preferences on your device
Your browser stores interests and theme locally. An anonymous browser receives a signed HttpOnly cookie for its user identifier. Signed-in visitors use their site account identifier. Blocks are stored on the server. The adult acknowledgement is kept for the browser tab session. You can clear these values using your browser’s site-data settings.
Matching and text messages
The server uses user and session identifiers, activity times, selected mode, interests, approximate country supplied by the hosting network and chosen or browser languages to pair people. Country and language preferences restrict matching in both directions. Text messages and video connection signals are temporarily relayed through database records. While the service is being used, cleanup runs at most once every ten minutes, removing message events older than one hour and chat sessions and rooms older than one day.
Camera and microphone
Video mode asks for browser permission. Media travels through a WebRTC connection. Network information may be visible to the other participant and to the STUN service used to establish connectivity. The app has no media recording feature. Participants can still capture content using their own devices.
Reports and hosting
A report records the user identifiers, reason, optional details, time and last 20 text messages. The site owner can review reports, ban and unban users. Reports and moderation audit entries are eligible for deletion after 90 days through activity-triggered cleanup. Blocks and ban records persist so they can apply across conversations. Unban requests store the ban reference, your message, and review outcome. If you choose paid unban, Stripe or Razorpay handles the payment details, according to your selected checkout option. ChatMee stores order/payment references, amount, currency, payment status, and access-restoration records for support and accounting. Full card details are not stored by ChatMee. The hosting platform handles site access and its own service logs.
